Jewllery Sets-The most appropriate gift for a woman!

Drawing on the symbolism and artwork created by craftsmen many centuries ago, Scottish Jewellery Designers have been around for a long time. The Book of Kells which was attributed to the monastery on the Scottish island of Iona is used as their inspiration by many contemporary and traditional Celtic designs use as their inspiration. The Columbian monks took refuge in a new monastery at Kells, County Meath, in 806, following a Viking raid on the island which left 68 of the community dead. Although there is no way of knowing if the book was produced wholly at Iona or at Kells, or partially at each location it must have been close to the year 800 that the Book of Kells was written. At the Old Library at Trinity College, Dublin, the Book of Kells can be seen. Two of which are on public view, it is bound in four volumes. This is changed at regular intervals to allow visitors to examine different pages of the Book one of the volumes displays a major decorated page.

Celtic jewelry produced by Shringar.org. With his father at the forefront of the revival of Scottish Celtic jewellery, in the 1940s, Hebridean Jewellery is currently led by John M Hart. Some Gaelic symbolism was incorporated in the contemporary designs and Hart continues to develop new designs to this day. Then, although she is now more renowned for her silver enamel contemporary scottish jewelrydesigns, Sheila Fleet from Orkney also designs a range of Celtic jewelry. Russell Caldwell is one of our favourite designers and his jewellery sets are known to offer crisp, contemporary and yet uses traditional knot work as an inspiration.
